1988 Isuzu Impulse Turbo

This 1988 Isuzu Impulse Turbo was purchased new in Connecticut by the previous owner. Odometer currently shows 88k miles, and is finished in blue over a blue velour interior. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four sends power to the rear wheels via a 4-speed Aisin automatic transmission, and the car is equipped with an aftermarket turbocharger, intercooler, intake, exhaust, and wheels. The car received a new head gasket, valve job, thermostat, spark plugs, belts, and oxygen sensor in 2017. A factory turbocharger, intercooler, steering rack, two spare aftermarket wheels with tires, and a climate-control module are included with the vehicle. The Giugiaro-styled Impulse was created as a replacement for the Isuzu 117 coupe. This example is finished in dark blue, and the hood reportedly has been repainted due to stone chips, and the rear bumper and fascia were refinished after the car was backed into. The Carfax report notes this accident in 2005. The Impulse was updated for the 1988 model year with a larger rear spoiler, a power-bulge hood, and slimmer headlamps without pop-up covers. Aftermarket Maxxim wheels are fitted, and measure 14" at the front and 16" at the rear. An extra pair of 14" wheels with tires are included. A custom exhaust system was made for this application, and the slash-cut tip is visible under the rear valance. The cabin features striped blue velour upholstery with dark blue carpeting and interior plastics. Automatic seatbelts and a factory steering wheel are present, although the car is not equipped with a functioning radio or rear speakers. The air conditioning switch has been relocated under the dash. Factory-rated output was 140 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. A modified turbocharger was installed by Majestic Turbo, and the car is also equipped with a Superchips variable boost adjuster, cold-air intake, and a factory intercooler. The car received an engine rebuild around 2010, and in 2017 it received a new head gasket, valve job, thermostat, spark plugs, belts, and oxygen sensor. The Impulse Turbo features suspension tuning by Lotus as denoted by exterior badges around the car.
